Yammer Acquires oneDrum to Make Desktop Content Social

Yammer, Inc., the leading provider of Enterprise Social Networks, today announced it has acquired oneDrum, a UK-based software company that offers file sharing and collaboration solutions for businesses. With the acquisition, Yammer will gain powerful desktop sync capabilities, enabling file folders to be shared across multiple users’ desktops. oneDrum also brings collaborative functionality to Microsoft Office applications, allowing multiple authors to work together on Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in real time.

Banking With Apple Could Pose Serious Challenge to High Street According to a New Research Report

Penton Marketing Services Delivers Largest Marketing Business-to-Business Study

Penton Marketing Services, a division of Penton Media, announced today the release of “Truth from the Trenches,” the largest marketing business-to-business survey conducted this year.  The study was designed to explore the pain points marketers are experiencing as they develop their online marketing strategies.

Respondents spanned a broad base of industry sectors and represented 15 distinct vertical markets that Penton Media serves.  From developing websites, search marketing, social media and lead optimization strategies, the survey reveals that many marketers are less than satisfied with their current digital marketing efforts.  Findings include:

  • 81% of marketers find online marketing moderately to extremely challenging
  • 77% of marketers say their site is not that effective in generating sales leads
  • 74% of markets have not implemented a social media strategy
  • 80% of companies have no resources and no budget devoted to Website analytics

New Facebook Ticker is Invasion of Privacy

Facebook launched their newest update this week with lots of fanfare. Not ready to comment yet on functionality and changes made, but want to address the apparent glaring invasion of privacy issue with their new Ticker broadcast function and ability of users to Opt out of it.

Since the update, just about every action you make on Facebook is streamed in Ticker form on the upper right portion of other users screens. Haven’t been able to confirm yet if this is only limited to Friends etc or goes beyond this. However to be honest, there is a difference between simply sharing the content you post to broadcasting your every activity streaming in real time.
