Social networks and traditional word-of-mouth will start buzzing with <em>your <\/em>product, and sales will reflect your Advocates\u2019 delight.<\/p>\n<p>But your advocates won\u2019t try to get someone to buy your sub-par product, and they certainly won\u2019t apologize for you or your product.\u00a0 Don\u2019t try to make your Advocates do that work for you, because they won\u2019t\u2026<em>and they shouldn\u2019t have to.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The sale starts with your product, not your Advocates; your Advocates are simply the reward you get for ensuring your product is and does everything you promised it would (if not more!).\u00a0 Your strongest relationships are built on trust \u2013 trust that your brand is committed to producing quality products and services \u2013 and if you don\u2019t deliver that top-notch product, that essential trust is quickly lost.\u00a0 Along with the sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You might be tempted to use social media to over-highlight the best parts of your product in the hopes that the disappointing parts won\u2019t be noticed. \u00a0But even the best social media relationships can\u2019t perform magic\u2026 they won\u2019t make up for a less-than-great product.<\/p>\n<p>However, the good news is that when your product <em>is<\/em> strong and <em>does<\/em> carry through on your brand promises, advocates, through their social media relationships, can skyrocket your product sales.\u00a0 Advocates engage, word gets out, and sales happen.\u00a0 As Seth Godin said in his recent blog post, (<a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/typepad\/sethsmainblog\/~3\/HHfJtR3BrkE\/consider-the-category-of-without-apology.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Consider the category of &#8216;without apology\u2019<\/strong>)<strong> <\/strong><\/a><strong>\u201c<\/strong>People will go out of their way to buy and recommend products that don&#8217;t require an apology.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 They will <em>go out of their way<\/em> for you.\u00a0 Because they want to\u2026 because your product is what it is supposed to be and has passed <strong><em>Social QC<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t waste your time trying to hide your product flaws.\u00a0 Invest your time in making a flawless product, and give your Advocates something to get excited about!<\/p>\n<p>Ted Rubin<\/p>\n<p>If your product is fantastic, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zuberance.com\/product.php\">when identified and energized<\/a> your Advocates will spread the word like wildfire.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advocates are a whole new type of quality control: social quality control.\u00a0\u00a0 If your product is fantastic, when identified and energized, your Advocates will spread the word like wildfire.
