I had a chance to read Clay&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Cognitive-Surplus-Creativity-Generosity-Connected\/dp\/1594202532\/permissionmarket\">new book<\/a> a few months ago. No surprise: it&#8217;s pure gold, unalloyed insight about the state of media and the world.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for big ideas and are prepared to lose a little sleep, there&#8217;s no better book to buy right now.<\/p>\n<p>You can have someone take a short speech based on your book and have them turn it into a animated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=u6XAPnuFjJc\">video<\/a>. Dan Pink&#8217;s video has been seen about 20 times as often as his book has been purchased. Video spreads.<\/p>\n<p>You can turn your idea (like a focus on entrepreneurs) into cool <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evancarmichael.com\/Heroes\/\">trading cards<\/a>, like Evan did.<\/p>\n<p>You can skip the printing altogether and start your own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.khanacademy.org\/\">video university<\/a>, like Khan Academy.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps write a short manifesto and watch it spread as a free ebook. Like <a href=\"http:\/\/changethis.com\/manifesto\/index\">Changethis<\/a>, a free service that has reached millions with the work of top authors from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget podcasts or mp3s, which can be very <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kasperhauser.com\/podcasts\">funny<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ziglar.com\/shop\/downloads_product_info.php\/products_id\/353\">motivational<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Consider starting a conference with a unique platform and worldwide reach, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/ze_frank_s_nerdcore_comedy.html\">TED<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or you can <a href=\"http:\/\/bobulate.com\/\">blog<\/a> your <a href=\"http:\/\/chrisguillebeau.com\/\">idea<\/a> for several years in a row, slowly building up trust and making an impact over time.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there&#8217;s no right answer.
